Otby Lake Lake

Lincolnshire's most natural and challenging trout fishing set in an exclusive and beautiful part of the Wolds - an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The location

The setting is like no other in Lincolnshire and compares with any of the well known 'outdoor areas'. The 6 acre lake is spring fed with a gravity fed fountain at the centre. It is stocked regularly with rainbow and brown trout, and fishing is by fly only.

Otby Lake was created in 1962, For many years it was fished privately but since 1995 it has been available to visitors mainly for day ticket fishing but also for corporate or group days.

The lake extends to 6 acres and is 20 feet at its deepest. Rainbow and brown trout are regularly stocked. They thrive in the lake and are renowned for their fighting qualities. There are 9 jetties to improve access for fishermen although there is ample bank fishing as it is possible to walk around the entire lake. There are also two boats, one a flat-bottomed fibreglass boat powered by electric motor and the other a rowing-boat.

Access is down a steep concrete road to a car park immediately on the left where visitors are asked to park. The farm tracks and concrete road provide no problems for vehicular access.

The Boathouse, for the use of day ticket fishermen, is up the wooden steps leading to the veranda and a comfortable room, forming the base for a day's fishing. Tea and coffee making facilities are provided and a fridge is available for keeping drinks cold. Scales to weigh fish taken and the Fishing Record book are also in the Boat House.

The Cabin can be hired for group days for the use of up to 24 people. There is a patio which is also available to guests staying in Masondale Cottage.

... and for the non-fisherman...

There is lots to do in and around the region. Walking, cycling, historic centres and of course Market Rasen Racecourse.

Otby Lake is near Tealby, one of the prettiest villages in the area with connections to Alfred Lord Tennyson. The historic city of Lincoln is less than 20 miles away with its magnificent Cathedral and old quarter - with many interesting and varied shops.
